Turning 31 was such a “Gas”

I celebrated my 31st birthday last week and after my scare with possible breast cancer, celebrating my life meant so much more to me. I’m happy I have lived 31 wonderful years on this beautiful earth. I hope for many, many more wonderful years.

The Birthday Fairy visits our home and leaves the number that the b-day person is turning on their forehead in the night. This year the “Birthday Fairy” got up early to exercise, and didn’t want the number 31 on her forehead for all her workout buddies to see. I thought I was being tricky by putting a washable marker in the car so I could quickly write the number on my forehead just before coming back from my workout.

Mally was so excited to see my number that she woke up nice and early with me and surprised me by standing in the dark outside the bathroom door. As I opened the door she was there to greet me and see my forehead. Luckily it was dark, so I told Mally to wait on the bed while I fixed the lights so she could see. I quickly ran downstairs and got a marker and wrote 31. She saw the number and happily snuggled in bed with Stephen while I left for my workout. Of course I washed the number off before going. And of course I wrote it back on my head before coming back. Look closely. Can you see what the “Birthday Fairy” wrote?

For my birthday I got the novel The Lost Summer of Louisa May Alcott, which I quickly read and really enjoyed. To go along with it, I got the sound track to the Little Women movie, beautiful music I’ve always enjoyed. And I got the last season of our favorite show, Corner Gas. Last year for my b-day I got seasons 1-5, now we have the last season, 6 and our lives and collection are complete. If you haven’t seen Corner Gas, then I totally recommend borrowing it from us. Though, beware. You too will probably love it and feel the need to own it yourself. I have seen this trend happen over and over again.

During this episode Oscar, the old man, says a line that had Stephen and me laughing so hard and for so long we had to pause the show to catch our breath. Go to 7:40 in the clip to see it. We still laugh about it. Seriously funny, what a gas!
